It is with sadness that I write you today to ask for your prayers for our long-time staff member, Barbara Raines. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She was admitted to the Cancer Treatment Center in Newnan, Ga over the weekend having extreme difficulty walking. Upon testing, it was found that she had a broken C3 vertebrae from the cancer. They moved her up to start radiation today. She will need 5 treatments, so she will remain in the hospital for the week certainly. After that, I am sure that they will be looking at options, as needed.
Barbara is special to all of us here and to many former students and families. Not only is she one of the main leaders at WCA and works so hard without complaint, she gives her example in faith and love to all. For me, personally, she is like Ruth’s Naomi or Martha’s Mary. Barbara has taught me more about Christ’s love than almost anyone I can think of in my life. Please join us in asking God to surround her with His love and send His angels to minister unto her and all her family as they deal with this.
During the next weeks, we also ask that if you need something regarding the school, to please contact myself through email or Tracy Rhoades (trhoades@wynfieldca.org), as we have gotten Barbara to give over her school tasks temporarily to the rest of us to let her rest and heal. Barbara loves this ministry and its students so much, so now let us rally around her in spirit and in prayer. Pray for myself, Tracy, Martha, Gail, and others helping us to fill Barbara’s shoes and continue the work of this ministry in the best way as we work in the Shadow of the Master Teacher.
